A bit about me:
My name is Beth Fogarty Braxton and I am a candidate for the Saratoga Springs City School Board. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, an Associate Professor of Counseling and the Chair of the Counseling Division at SUNY Adirondack. Over the course of my career, I have worked in a variety of settings including a residential wilderness program, a domestic violence shelter, a community mental health agency, and a rural high school in Virginia where I worked as a school counselor. I have been an educator for over 20 years and have dedicated my career to working in positions that allow me to serve my community in ways that lift up those who need it most.
I grew up in Saratoga Springs. My mother taught in the district for over 30 years and my father is a lifelong and enthusiastic supporter of Blue Streaks athletics! After living out of state for 16 years, my husband and I chose Saratoga as the place to raise our three children.
I am committed to lifelong learning and I believe in public education. Our schools are a reflection of our community and the residents of Saratoga Springs deserve a board that serves as a model for engaging in conversations, both difficult and easy, that consider the needs of all members of our community. I am excited to join those conversations and to bring my perspective on the intersection of education and mental health. I am committed to using my experience to benefit the students, families, faculty, and staff of the Saratoga Springs City Schools.
